The biggest world event in the my life time was Treyvon Martin’s death. A Hispanic man killed a young 17 year old boy and the whole world was talking about it because they didn’t arrest him right away. If it was Treyvon Martin who shot Mr. Zimmerman they would have killed him quick, fast, and in a hurry. My reaction to this death was why he would shoot him and the police told him not to. He assumed he was up to no good because it was dark outside and he was black, had a hoodie, skittles, and an iced tea.

The biggest world event was The Aurora Colorado Shooting involving a person with mental issues who decided he was going to murder people watching “The Dark Knight” opening night in the movie theatre. Many people died, but most were wounded. How can someone be so inconsiderate to murder people who just wanted to watch a movie? But, they said he had a mental issue and was seeing a therapist. Now everyone is paranoid and making sure they are protected everywhere they go. Shaking my head.

I feel like the biggest world event of my lifetime would be 9/11. I was only 1 so i didn’t really know anything about it but know I know and my reaction is that why would people in the right mind do that. Many people died as you should know. In result to that airports are much safer.

See, Rieley, this is why, as one of Lois Lowry’s characters in The Giver suggests, we need “precision of language.” I should have asked what do you consider the biggest world event in your lifetime that you were old enough to recall. I was inspired to pose this question because of 9/11, and we had this discussion in my class on that day.

However, like many of us who do recall this event, we are left pondering why and adjusting how we travel accordingly.

The biggest world event in my life would be 9/11. Even though I had just turned 1 year-old, it still is big to me. When I got old enough to understand, it brought tears to my eyes.
