“#WhatIWrite Human Rights Versus Civil Rights”

  1. October 16th, 2012 at 10:01 AM      Reply Madyson Garrett Says:

I think human rights is when someone or a person has God Giving rights and I also think civil rights mean people having rights by the law.

  2. October 18th, 2012 at 10:34 AM      Reply Mrs. Edwards Says:

Human rights are universally accepted rights regardless of nationality, religion and ethnicity. On the other hand, civil rights fall within the limits of a country’s law, and pertain to the social, cultural, religious, and traditional standards, and other aspects.

  3. October 18th, 2012 at 3:16 PM      Reply Madison Hill Says:

Human rights are the basic things that a human deserves to have. Civil rights are the things that citizens deserve in their city or town.

  4. October 18th, 2012 at 4:14 PM      Reply Aaron West Says:

Human rights are the things you can do as a person. Civil rights are having a certain group of people being able to do something and another group not being able to do so.

  5. October 18th, 2012 at 4:47 PM      Reply Andrea M Says:

The difference between civil and human rights are that civil rights are specific rights that are issued by each country, but human rights are rights that are equal to everyone, no matter where they live.

  6. October 18th, 2012 at 4:49 PM      Reply Daniel Kim Says:

Human rights and civil rights are very different. Humans right are when they think that they have to rights to do whatever they want. Civil rights is when the they country has a certain right for the people.

    • October 18th, 2012 at 8:13 PM      Reply Ms. Hayes Says:

Daniel, are human rights about doing whatever you want or having what you need? Civil rights – are you suggesting “certain rights for the people” or certains rights for certain people?

  7. October 18th, 2012 at 4:58 PM      Reply Joshua Williams Says:

There are the same, but technically civil rights are the rights you get as a citizen of a country, organizationetc. And Human rights are just basic things like a right to safety and happiness.

  8. October 18th, 2012 at 5:01 PM      Reply Alex lee Says:

Well, I didnt really know alot about human rights, but im glad that I know more now 🙂

    • October 18th, 2012 at 7:52 PM      Reply Ms. Hayes Says:

What do you know now that you did not know before?

    • October 19th, 2012 at 8:48 AM      Reply Zyon Daniels Says:

Human and civil rights are totally different. Human rights are rights that we all have a human beings. Civil rights deals with a different race or color. Like the civil rights movement for African American people.

      • October 19th, 2012 at 5:06 PM      Reply Ms. Hayes Says:

So, technically, does this mean that civil rights are relevant to everyone since everyone is a race or color? Or, are civil rights more applicable to African American people?

  9. October 18th, 2012 at 5:03 PM      Reply Sam Markle Says:

Civil rights is what you get from your country. Human rights are what everyone should get and be treated fairly

    • October 18th, 2012 at 8:17 PM      Reply Ms. Hayes Says:

How is that working for us nationally and globally? Are our civil rights and human rights in harmony? Do they work toward the same end or are some laws defying human rights?

  10. October 18th, 2012 at 5:36 PM      Reply Fiona Blom Says:

The difference between civil and human rights are that civil rights are personal rights but human rights are rights for ethnicity, gender, or language .ect..

  11. October 18th, 2012 at 5:58 PM      Reply Italy Says:

Human rights is like religion, education, etc. civil rights is when it protects us from discrimination.

  12. October 18th, 2012 at 6:30 PM      Reply armin Says:

human rights have to do with, more of people and there right. civil rights have to do with everyone in that country or the government and how it works. civil rights have to be about a group or a lot of people. human rights are for everything that is human.

    • October 18th, 2012 at 7:39 PM      Reply Ms. Hayes Says:

“human [sic] rights are for everything that is human.” I think you just enlightened us. Human rights are things that every human is entitled to have just because he or she exist. What might be some examples?

  13. October 18th, 2012 at 6:34 PM      Reply Andrea A. Says:

Human rights are what you should be taught to have and have no matter what anyone says. Civil rights are something you are allowed to have.

    • October 18th, 2012 at 7:32 PM      Reply Ms. Hayes Says:

What do you mean when you assert that human rights are taught? Just as manners and etiquette are taught? I think you are on to something when you claim, “Civil rights are something you are allowed to have? So, does that mean that civil rights are granted? a privilege? changeable? transient? permanent?

  14. October 18th, 2012 at 6:53 PM      Reply Shereen Ragheb Says:

The difference between human and civil rights is that in human rights everyone has a right to do something like to talk. They get to do that certain thing because they have that right to do it. In civil rights it’s different for everyone because it depends where you live and where you are. It is the rights of citizens in a certain place.

    • October 18th, 2012 at 7:27 PM      Reply Ms. Hayes Says:

You state, “They get to do that certain thing becausee they have that right to do it.” Why? I feel as if there are a few key words missing. Could you elaborate and also tell me why civil rights vary by place?

  15. October 18th, 2012 at 7:38 PM      Reply Grace Gardner Says:

I believe that civil rights is your rights in side the law. Human rights are the rights you have of speech or of thought. The difference between civil rights and human rights is you don’t have to earn human rights every one has them although people invade others human rights when they hurt or disrespect them in any way. Human rights are always there and civil rights are made by the government. That is the difference between civil rights and human rights.

  16. October 18th, 2012 at 7:45 PM      Reply Samantha (6th Period) Says:

Civil Rights are the rights an citizen has guaranteed by 13th and 14th Amendments. Human Rights are the rights a humans are entitled to, no matter the race or the ethnicity. So the major dfifference is that civil rights are guaranteed by citizenship, however with human rights you are entitiled to your rights.

    • October 18th, 2012 at 8:09 PM      Reply Ms. Hayes Says:

Should our humans rights be “protected”? Why or why not? Can you think of any human rights violations that are contemporary, existing in the world today?

  17. October 18th, 2012 at 7:46 PM      Reply Grace Gardner Says:

Mrs. Hayes I do not think that all are fair although some are.

  18. October 18th, 2012 at 7:50 PM      Reply Grace Gardner Says:

The right for women to vote is a fair right but that women do not get paid as much as men is certain positions is not fair.

    • October 18th, 2012 at 8:05 PM      Reply Ms. Hayes Says:

If we interpret civil rights as those that are granted by law, we must look at how some laws treat some individuals or groups unfairly. You mentioned women. Great example. Consider what happened to the 14- year-old girl in Pakistan. Her view of her basic rights collided with the codes of her society. Look at what the laws did to the Jews during Hitler’s reign, and Negroes under “Jim Crow”. So, I am wondering, if at times, we might see “civil right” abusing human rights.

  19. October 18th, 2012 at 7:57 PM      Reply Grace Gardner Says:

I believe that civil rights are what you are given from the government like the right to vote so what i am saying is the government has done a good job with fair rights although i say some should be made more fair.

  20. October 18th, 2012 at 8:20 PM      Reply Charlie Mitchell Says:

human rights is for all people of the world to get their own rights over people in the country. While civil rights was for african americans to get there rights from people that mistreated them just because of their skin color.

    • October 18th, 2012 at 9:29 PM      Reply Ms. Hayes Says:

I am in need of clarification. You suggest that human rights entitle people to “get their own rights over people in the country.” I’m not sure that I understand what you are saying. Also, do the laws enacted during the Civil Rights Movement only benefit African-Americans? Thanks for inspiring us to think critically. I can’t wait to read your follow up, Charlie.

  21. October 18th, 2012 at 9:14 PM      Reply Abram Rincon Says:

I believe human rights are the things you may do things as a single Person. human rights also are rights you get as a human, race or ethnicity does not matter, if you are a human you will have have the same rights as any person in the world. civil rights are rights the government gives you. I also believe civil rights are rights that you get for fighting for religion, ethnicity, and belief.

  22. October 18th, 2012 at 9:21 PM      Reply Dejone Martells :) who else? Says:

Human rights are those rights that an individual enjoys because of being human. Civil rights protect the individual from discrimintation, so human rights can express more, and civil rights just limit more.

  23. October 18th, 2012 at 9:23 PM      Reply Lexi Graff Says:

The difference between human and civil rights is that human rights are the rights on each individual person and civil rights are big time and it may go for everyone. Human rights might be declared by a smaller part of the government/ the people around you and cCvil rights may be started by the bigger part of the government.

    • October 18th, 2012 at 9:43 PM      Reply Ms. Hayes Says:

Interesting post, Lexi. So, individuals have human rights, groups do not. Everyone has big time civil rights and they may be for everyone. Human rights might be “declared by a smaller part of the government – a city or state? Civil rights may be started by the federal government. I am trying to determine what this means for me as an average, middle-class citizens and as a human being. So, what might I be entitled to just because I exist, and what does this mean for me as a citizen?

  24. October 18th, 2012 at 9:36 PM      Reply Francelly Ramirez Says:

I think that human rights and civil rights are different.I think that because civil rights are made by the government and has the protection of the constitution.Civil rights depend on the country’s government. Human rights are the rights that a human has to have no matter what, like no matter what religion you follow, where you were born,or what race you are. Human rights are for everyone all over the world.

  25. October 18th, 2012 at 11:11 PM      Reply Audrey Says:

On a basic level, there really are no differences between human rights and civil rights. Human rights are the basic rights every person in entitled to (ex. the right to protection from torture, protection from compulsory labour and slavery, the right to protection from discrimination, freedom of expression, the right to marry, the right to a fair trail, the right to education, the right to protection of property). Civil rights ensure that those basic human rights are available to all people, regardless of race, creed, gender, age, or disability.

  26. October 19th, 2012 at 7:23 AM      Reply Taylor Robinson Says:

I thing human rights is something every person should have while civil rights something that people want to have.

  27. October 19th, 2012 at 9:38 AM      Reply beingmii99 Says:

The difference between human rights and civill rights are human rights are God given rights that you are given when you are born and civil rights are rights that you have as a citizen of your country.

  28. October 21st, 2012 at 1:59 PM      Reply Kennedy Moody Says:

I think Civil Rights are rights that are promised to you by the constitution of your country. Human Rights, on the other hand, are rights promised worldwide.

    • October 21st, 2012 at 3:04 PM      Reply Ms. Hayes Says:

Kennedy, when you assert that human writes are “promised worldwide” does that mean they are granted and enforeced by mankind? Are they assumed as a right? Can they be violated?

  29. October 31st, 2012 at 9:23 AM      Reply Rickayla Says:

I think the difference between human and civil rights is that human rights are the rights for you. You have your own rights. Civil rights is the rights of more than one person who have the same rights.
