“It’s a girl” – Not a reason to celebrate in many parts of the world.

Unit two of the common core curriculum includes a study of civil rights, human rights, and the rights of the child. While it is important that we view these issues through a historical lens, we must also focus on what is occurring in this moment. You may be the catalyst or the voice for change that the world needs – that a girl needs – today.

In the trailer “200 million Girls” I don’t think we should be watching this because, some people can take it as their parents are out to get them and some kids may go into depression. Also just think would you want your child watching someone telling your child or even millions of children that they kill their eight daughters so this is my thought.

Destini, I value and respect your opinion. It is shocking and painful to learn that such things as this happen in our world. This form of genocide targets newborns. That is not to say that older girls are not at risk. It did not occur to me that anyone in our class would become fearful of her parents. How do you think I might address your concerns?

sometimes we I mean us kids have to learn now before we get grown. It’s teaching us wats gonna happen in the real world. Sure we might go home and tell our parents but there only gonna to strive and help us understand before it happens. We all understand or haves fear but we rise higher and higher every day and but this video behind our feelings but if you be a young lady men will respect you any one else so dont be afraid of your parents there just always gonna be there for you

I think that this video is heartbreaking to know that 200 million girls are so-called “missing” in today’s world. That makes me think that women/girls (including me) should be more grateful that they are living on this earth and have at least what they need because girls out there in the world are starving, abandoned, and being killed.

    • November 26th, 2012 at 8:07 PM      Reply Ms. Hayes Says:

Yes, we should all be grateful to be living on this earth, and we should also appreciate the rights that women who came before us demanded in our country. What do you think has to be done to change how women and girls are viewed throughout the world, Tyona?

When I saw this video I thought “wow”, and how it really scared me, but then when I thought really hard I notice a few things. Like for one the world is very popluted and I can understand why, but that not a reason to kill. Also another thing this answer can only be answer with opinion so either I am not right or wrong.

Study of civil rights, human rights, and the rights of child is that in india and china they kill girls.Because the population is huge.If they kill all the girls there, there would be just be guys.who would they like. That’s the study of civil rights, human rights, and the rights of child.

This trailer about two hundred million girls going missing is very hurtful. It is hurtful because these young ladies are getting killed for nothing. They are just coming to life, so why are you killing little girls?

All children should be able to live a good life. Yes you say that they should be killed but, I say no, I say every child should be able to live a life. Most people think that they should be killed because you can only have two children. I understand that but that doesn’t give you a right to kill a precious child.

I think it’s time for our country to change our laws to restrict the types of guns people can own because guns are dangerous and the gun is full of violence. I know people protect themselves but they have to use it responsibly.

It was really scary finding out that there are 200 million girls missing. They’re missing because they’re girls, young women, and adults.
