Iwould say physical is more harmful because it harms your body and mental is how you feel.

Can the way someone feels mentally affected him or her physically? I am also wondering if we should consider the degree of the pain or the source of the distress. Could it depend on the type of mental or physical injury?

Yes, the way someone feels can affect them because feeelings can make people have thoughts and do things also.it could depend on the mental or physical injury because because its not always a very risky or critical decision.

I think mental pain is more detrimental than physical pain because physical pain can be temporary and can go away, but mental pain can be remembered forever.

I think both metal and physical pain are both harmful because mental pain can last forever and stay into until you die. While physical pain can be temporary and some other physical pain can hurt/ kill you. This is why I say both.

Mental pain is more detrimental because it is an everlasting pain that sometimes might not go away because everyone can at least think of 1 time that they have been hurt mentally and sometimes the pain doesn’t go away.

I think mental pain because you could feel neglected or have depression and could commit suicide.

  6. February 27th, 2013 at 8:58 AM      Reply Rickayla Says:

I think that physical pain in detrimental than mental pain because physical pain is like when some hitting or abusing you that is physical pain. Mental pain is when someone hurts your mind that is mental pain.

  7. February 27th, 2013 at 8:59 AM      Reply Kayla T Says:

Well I think mental pain is the most painful. The reason why I say that is because physical pain is recoverable. While with mental it’s impossible to recover from. Like for example with the new town gun shoot out. The man who did this was mentally insane, and if his mother caught this in time it would take years to become normal.

  8. February 27th, 2013 at 8:59 AM      Reply Tyquasha Says:

I think mental and physical pain both are harmful because even though physical pain is temporary it can still can lead to death, pain, and it can make a close person very melancholy. Mental pain can last forever until you die and nobody can ever change that.

  9. February 27th, 2013 at 9:02 AM      Reply Mercedes Says:

I think it both mental and physical pain because he sees the images in his head, its very hard for him be as plain as everyone in the community. Both compels his actions because his thoughts and moving throughout the day.

I think that physical pain is mental pain. If you have mental that leads to physical pain. Just say if you’re paranoid and have a low self of steam. You’re thinking in your mind that someone is talking about or bothering you. You automatically fell this erg that you don’t belong in the world so you want to inflict physical pain to yourself or possibly commit suicide.

  11. February 27th, 2013 at 9:12 AM      Reply Ruqiya Says:

I think that mental pain is the most efficient because, mental pain deals with the human mind, how you feel can lead to how you act and that can leave a big impression on others around us. The saying ‘Actions speak louder than words’ is true but how you are thinking at the time of the action makes the big difference.

I think that mental pain is worse because that has something to do with your body system. But to be clearer I am saying that say if you get scratch (physical) it will only hurt for a little while. But say if your head hurt (mental pain) it would probably hurt a few more days than a scratch would. Also mental pain is something that will bother you on and off.

  13. March 21st, 2013 at 10:44 PM      Reply Bennecia Says:

I honestly think mental pain is worst than physical pain because its dealing with your mind, but physical pain is just like body action.

  14. July 8th, 2013 at 9:50 AM      Reply Jacauri Says:

I believe mental pain is more painful no doubt about it. We face physical pain everyday and to fix all we need is medicine; physical pain is natural. Mental pain goes on forever; we will never forget what we always remember. Like if someone in your family dies, thats mental pain because its your feelings. Something like this is hard to get over and you always grieve over it maybe not physically but mentally.

  15. July 8th, 2013 at 10:53 AM      Reply evan Says:

I think mental pain is worse because it would make you do things you would never, ever do in your life. Mental pain is like having a sickness. Because when you have a sickness you do not do stuff like you would always do.

In Lois Lowry’s, The Giver, Jonas experiences mental and physical anguish. The one that causes Jonas the most pain is the memories the Giver gave to Jonas made him fill the most pain. The Giver did a procedure on Jonas for him to receive the memories, that is why he was called The Receiver. The Giver told Jonas to relax so he wouldn’t feel the pain so much, but he did tell Jonas that it was going to hurt. Another thing that made Jonas fill pain (mental), was when he found out what his dad did to the other baby twin.
Jonas is compelled by his mental pain. When he decided to leave and take Gabriel with him he was confused, upset, relieved, and happy all at the same time. Jonas was confused because he didn’t know why his dad did such a bad thing to that baby twin and didn’t tell anybody. Jonas is upset because he was mad at his dad for wanting to do the same thing to Gabriel as he did to the other baby twin (release). Jonas was relieved and happy because him and Gabriel got chance to escape from there community.

In my opinion I think that mental pain hurt Jonas more just like it does anyone else. I think that because it gave him many ideas. I also think that because he rode to the park and saw his friends playing a game that copies war. Jonas was overwhelmed .

  18. July 8th, 2013 at 2:25 PM      Reply Frederick Says:

Both mental and physical pain can hurt deeply because both can led to death. Mental pain can urge you to be suicidal. Also physical pain can be deadly too. Someone can be shot by someone or bombed. Jonas was going through mental and physical pain because of the honorable job of the Receiver. He experiences the pain so the people in his community don’t have to feel it. That’s why it’s such an important job.

  19. July 9th, 2013 at 2:08 PM      Reply armidillo30000 Says:

I think mental pain is worst than physical pain because physical pain can end quick with death, but mental pain takes longer to fully end. You may get it out of your mind, but it will always drift back into your consciousness. You will have to live with a suicidal thought haunting you and urging you to end it.

  20. July 10th, 2013 at 2:27 PM      Reply Hikma Says:

Well, I think physical pain is more detrimental because, for instance, someone could get stabbed or shot and you feel a lot of pain because of what happened. Mental pain can be detrimental. It may lead to suicide. Like if you get injected with a shot that shuts down your system or if you take a bottle of pills and swallowed half of the bottle of pills or everything you could die.
