    Where I’m From
    I am from Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Raised there half my life, now I’m living in Atlanta, Georgia!
    I’m from all over.
    Friends and family everywhere.
Travel almost everywhere: Illinois, Chicago, Arizona, Maryland, Washington D.C, L.A, California, Phoenix, and Texas.
I’m from the cool breeze of nature outside.
From candy stuck all over tomatoes frying on the stove!
Baking goodies on my easy bake oven! That smelled so sweet!!
I’m from cookie dough ice cream all over my sticky fingers.
Hearing the quiet sounds at night.
I’m from my mother and father and Red Bank Hospital
    Noon, March 22! That’s where I’m from!!!!

Where I’m From – My Life Poem

    I’m from Atlanta
Where the life of history was formed
Where delicious fried chicken, crispy hot wings, collards, rice, cornbread, sweet juicy peaches, peach cobbler, and tasty spicy hot sauce are from
The life of an entire generation
From blacks to African Americans were slaves
Freedom been made in the future
Blacks and African Americans were free
    Freedom for my country
I’m a descendant from Blacks and African Americans
Where the city has the most sunny days
The hot sun shines bright on most days in summer
    Now that’s were I’m from

    Where I’m From
    By Mya

I am from the dark cold October night
    Being born at Atlanta medical
    Came out very tiny
    Giving my mom a fright
I am from the white house
    The house on the corner
From my mom and her spouse

I am from a beautiful woman and
    A handsome man
I am from the praise on Sunday morning
And the good dinner at night

Where I’m from no drugs or gangs
Where I’m from you do your best at your game
    I am from my granny
    Who always prays for me

    I am from my mom
    Who loves me so much
    I am from where my
    Fam got my back
I am from good to bad

I am from crime to kill
    I am from friends
    That always makes me laugh

I am from a beautiful seed that
Sprouts into a beautiful rose that
Shines out of the whole bunch
I am from a loving family
This is where I am from
    And where I was born

I’m from the descendent of black queens and kings
From the struggles and happiness of time
I’m the gifted intelligence and the ignorance of the south
From the laughter of joy and insecure smiles
And the hurtful crimes that scream from time from time

I’m from the struggles of independence
And the late night gathering and laughter in the country clubs in the attic
I’m from the heart of Wisconsin Georgia and Camden Arkansas
Being daddy mommy and grandma’s baby girl

From the sands of time that took away my family
I’m from all the sweet sound of the saxophone that played from my Uncle Michael iron man band
From the beautiful voice my mother gave me
And the tall height and artistic abilities my father gave me
And that weird since of humor which laughter fill the house

From the steal toe boots of a hard worker
And a true mother that fulfill her duties of a strong black woman
And the burns from hot combs from my grandma and mother
I’m from the heart the of the country and the bright lights of the city
I’m from a beautiful black woman in the city
And a handsome young man from the country
I ‘m my grandmother and grandfather wisdom from their death

And the regular parents that ended up with a wise misfit hippie
I’m the new generation of the Burks and Solomon family
The one they better watch out for that will change the world minute by minute
I’m that brilliant insecure young woman with a big heart with no place for myself
I’m the weird girl with millions of problems and can fix everyone’s but her own
That crazy chick that laughs out of the clear blue sky for nothing
That hippie that wants to change the world
That misfit that has anger problems that let it out through writing her own music
And that wise one with the caring heart
    I’m Ebony Nicole Burks
That old soul that is unforgettable

    Where I’m From …!

Where I’m from there’s shootings at night
Where I’m from the little children run of fright
Where I’m from the houses are burned
Early in the sunny evenings the kids have learned

I am from down in the streets
Where I’m from every corner the nerds get beat
Stealing jewels and late night break-ins
Little kids crying in their houses they pray in

Where I’m from the bullets have NO NAME
Where I’m from you have to know THE GAME
I am from the deep dark streets you call a “hood”
But, lesson learned it’s not all good

Where I’m from there’s broken street lights
Where I’m from there’s streaming at night
Where I’m from there’s gang related fights

Where I’m from life isn’t sweet
I am from the cold hearted streets
There isn’t No PEACE, barely anything to eat
Corner to Corner Prostitutes… You will see

I am from crack-heads to pot heads
Generation’s of drop outs to no collage graduates
With high personality and a rich fashion
High drug dealers struggling to live
All black suits and faces with tears
Where I’m from you have one parent never the two
Cold late nights praying your life was threw

even though this is as good as it gets
there are some things I just can’t forget

I am from a nice big city
    where everything is sound
    and I know everybody around
We play all day in the sun
and have to be begged to come home.

I am from 11 brothers and sisters
playing rough enough to get blisters.
    From here to there
    I have family everywhere.

I am from the deep down soul
from Cherokees and African Americans who rock and roll.
    It’s nothing some may say,
but they also say I could be
the next Albert Einstein or Bill Gates someday.
    So that’s where I’m from
    maybe you should come.

I’m from a place where everything is seen
from appearances, grades, to even bad things.
    I can’t let anyone down
I have to keep the family crowned.
So even when I’m down in the dumps
    I can never give up.
    That’s where I’m from.
